We have one datastudio report whose owner has already left the organization. We want to change the ownership of that report as it makes some of the actions not possible to be made. Also there are some issues with the dashboard which could be amended after fixing the ownership.
Can you please help us with the steps to change the ownership of this report.

Hey Renz, from my experience, prior to the employee leaving, the Data Source and Report access need to be transferred. If the employee has left and the account is deactivated completely, then nothing much can be done. However, if you re-activate the account that owns the reports/data sources or log into it, then you can still make the transfer.

How can someone transfer ownership of data studio when that person already left the organization? Currently the dashboards/reports are currently inaccessible to our end as the original creator is no longer working with us.

Hey Sanjay, thanks for the great question! There are a few levels of access management in Data Studio. Based on your comment, it seems like you have made your colleague a “Editor” of the report, so he/she can edit the charts and also modify the schema of the existing connection. To fully transfer ownership, you would have to navigate to the main Data Studio interface (the one before selecting or creating a new report) and go to the Data Sources menu. From there select “Make owner” for the data source linked to your report. Hope this help – Lacho 🙂

I want to transfer ownership. I have granted edit access to my colleague. Now when I go to manage access, I do not see ‘Make owner’ option. I am using Basic version of G-Suite for non for profit.

I can see option ‘Can edit’ , ‘Can view’ and ‘Remove’ options.

Your guidance will help me resolve the issue.
